Working With CHOICE
We maintain a high staff-service user ratio of enthusiastic, skilled and committed staff, offering 24 hour support. The care staff are further supported by the multi-disciplinary team of specialist services offered across CHOICE.
All homes have a management team of Registered Manager, Deputy and/or Assistant Manager who supervise and support members of the care team (residential and day care).
The staff team provide a supportive and stimulating environment that is designed to meet specific needs. CHOICE staff support service users in occupational, educational and recreational activities, which are provided from a varied timetable, making use of both home and community based facilities. Staff primarily focus on activities that relate to an individual’s interests in order to facilitate their communication and enhance their social skills.
Our staff are offered time off on full pay to pursue relevant training opportunities. They are highly motivated to provide care, support and advice to enable individuals to develop daily living skills, independence, community participation and decision making skills.
CHOICE encourages and supports staff to develop their own professional skills in order to preserve the high standard of care already offered to service users.
Established staff members take on the responsibility of being keyworker to a particular service user, as set out in Care Standard 6.8. They will be someone the service user chooses or communicates well with and who has an appreciation of their racial and cultural heritage. These keyworkers can ensure the service offered is reviewed regularly and can discuss any issues with the service user.
Homes provide service users with a choice of nutritious and wholesome meals, catering for special diets, any cultural or religious needs and individual preferences. When possible, service users are supported and encouraged to produce their own meals. Some individuals, however, require increased assistance and supervision from staff.
Overall, our staff are trained to provide opportunities for service users to learn and experience enjoyable activities and leisure pursuits in a homely and secure living environment. We provide high standards of professional care that honours their privacy, dignity and choice.
