Activity Opportunities

Each person within CHOICE receives an individually designed package of Activity Opportunities, in accordance with their specific needs and abilities, likes and dislikes. We believe in supporting our service users to keep appropriate jobs, continue education/training and take part in valued, fulfilling activities.

Activity Opportunities - Care homes in BerkshireThe Activity Opportunity programmes offer a wide range of activities with the aim of building on existing skills and supporting each individual in their continued personal development.

Wherever possible, a timetable is devised in association with the service user, as well as other relevant professionals such as Speech Therapists, the Psychology Team, local colleges, Music, Drama and Art Therapists, etc.

Service users also make use of a wide range of community resources which include colleges, sports and leisure facilities, pubs, clubs and restaurants, supported workshops and vocational opportunities.

Activity Opportunities - Care homes in BerkshireIn addition to using community resources we have developed our own expertise and offer a comprehensive Activity Opportunity programmes in areas and buildings attached to each of our homes. The activity areas are well equipped with resources which are specific to the developmental needs of the service users within each home. All homes have computer equipment and internet connections which are used to meet a variety of educational aims and objectives. Some homes also have an area for relaxation/sensory stimulation in which specific programmes, designed by the psychology team or speech therapist, may be followed.

Each home has an allocated activities officer who, together with the residential staff within the home, support every service user to participate in both internal and external activities. Activities are service user-focused and the emphasis is on having fun.
