About Sandsground

Sandsground registered for 3 is a large bungalow just on the outskirts of the village of Highworth, approximately 4 miles North East of Swindon. We provide a 24-hour residential service to three adults with severe learning disabilities and associated complex needs.
Two of the three bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, one of which has been modified and enlarged to specifically meet the individual need of the service user; in addition there is also a shared bathroom. There is also a small quiet lounge, a separate sensory room and a lounge that leads onto a conservatory/dining room, which opens out onto the small, safe sensory garden area.
In the back garden there is also a heated summer house that is multi used for craft and various activities and also used by individuals who may want to relax.
Although the house is on the route of a regular bus service, we also have our own transport which is used for leisure, recreational and educational trips and activities in the community.
Our Philosophy
We aim to maintain a safe, supportive environment to enable our service users to preserve and maintain their dignity, individuality and privacy of all service users within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing, are sensitive to each person’s ever-changing needs. Such needs may be medical/therapeutic, cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social.
Service users are encouraged to participate in the ongoing development of their own personal plan. Each person is supported on at least a one-to-one basis throughout the day with their own activity plans which are implemented and regularly reviewed to enhance their ability, equality, self-esteem and social interaction. Currently, service users enjoy busy days that are usually filled with attendance to local day services and a variety of chosen physical activities such as swimming and walking, and evenings out meeting friends at social clubs and pubs.
We offer when needed support and advice from our in house Psychology and Psychiatry Teams.
Where is Sandsground?
From M4 Junction 15
Take the A419 toward Cirencester/Gloucester.
At the third roundabout take the A36 toward Highworth.
Upon entering Highworth Sandsground can be found on the left hand side, just before a public golf course. If you go past a petrol station on the right you’ve gone too far.
From Swindon Town Centre
Proceed along the A4312 (Drakes Way) toward Oxford.
Once past the Kingsdown Crematorium there will be a roundabout junction with the B4006. Take the first exit (Swindon Road B4006) toward Highworth.
At the junction with the A419 carry straight on along the A36 toward Highworth.
Upon entering Highworth, Sandsground can be found on the left hand side, just before a public golf course. If you go past a petrol station on the right you’ve gone too far.
