Heronsmede registered for 8 is a spacious, detached home with an integrated adjoining bungalow, situated in Old Windsor near to the River Thames and just 3 miles from both Staines and Windsor. The home provides support to eight adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and associated complex needs. There are four bedrooms on the ground floor bungalow area and four on first floor in main house. Nearby are local shops, pubs and restaurants.
Individuals living at Heronsmede have access to a range of spacious communal accommodation including, two dining areas, computer room, sensory room and three bathrooms. In addition both the lounges lead out to a large, safe, level, open garden.
Two day care facilities are included on site, but considerable use of nearby community, leisure, educational facilities are used and accessed by public transport and also by using the homes two vehicles.
Our Philosophy
We aim to maintain a supportive, stimulating and safe environment, providing high standards of individual care designed to meet specific associated complex needs, both challenging and needs such as epilepsy, partial sight and hearing loss disabilities.
We promote the development of each person in terms of education and their chosen activities and strive to meet their physical and emotional needs with sensitivity, whilst encouraging positive relationships with staff and peers.
We offer when needed support and advice from our in house Psychology and Psychiatry Teams.
Where is Heronsmede?
From Junction 6 of the M4, take the A308 toward Windsor.
Continue following signs to Staines on the A308. You will pass five roundabouts and go past the back of Windsor Castle and its grounds.
After the fifth roundabout you will be on Straight Road (A308) and Heronsmede is about one mile on the right, just before the Post Office and shops.
